<div itemprop="description">Hawkins, Joseph Samuel. <br /> <br />With remarkable faith, strength, dignity and spirit, Joe passed away peacefully in his 81st year with his family on Friday, October 9th, 2015. Joe was born in Tweed, Ontario; raised in Trenton, and raised his family in Kingston for 63 years. Predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Alice (Bashall). Loving father of Wayne (Cindy), Teresa, John (Margaret), Stephen (Brenda), Patsy (Brian) and Paul-Mike (Nina). Proud Grandfather of Stacey, Lindsey, Benjamin, Alessia (Marcel), Joseph (Katie), Ally, James, Jeffrey, Daniel, Michael, Christopher, Kevin, Colin, Shauna, Kathleen, Natasha and Stefan. Cherished Great Grandfather of Angel, Brock, Cooper, Matteo, Gabriel, Sara and Ashton. Brother of; Mary, Frank, Rose-Marie, and predeceased by sisters Teresa and Ruth. Brother-in law to Helen and Pat Callery, Edna Fanjoy, and predeceased by in-laws, Ron Fanjoy, Richard and Dolly Bashall. Dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews.<br /> <br />Joe will be remembered as a caring husband, passionate father and grandfather.<br />He was a devoted Community Builder for the City of Kingston over the past 60 years; a Catholic Separate Schools&rsquo; Trustee, President of the KBA and Kingston Ponies, as a Kingston City Councillor and the co-founder of the Kingston Sports Hall of Fame, a Volunteer for the MS Society, Robinson Farms and Kingscourt Community Association. Joe was president of the DuPont United Mine Workers&rsquo; Association and Player/Coach for many DuPont sports teams. A special thank you to Friar David for his conversations and prayers with Joe. Thank you for the medical support received by Joe from his Oncology team (Dr. Matthews, Tracey, Dr. Siemens and Angie); to Dr. Lui, Dr. Bouchard, Dr. ZaZa and the Staff of Kidd 9 at Kingston General Hospital, and for the compassionate care provided by the Palliative Care team at St. Mary&rsquo;s of the Lake Hospital (South 2). <br /> <br />Family and friends will be received at St. John the Apostle Church, 88 Patrick Street, on the Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 2 until 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Apostle Church on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow mass, with the interment later.<br /><br />For those who wish to make donations in memory of Joe, they can be made to the Kingston Sports Hall of Fame Bursary; UHKF St. Mary's of the Lake Palliative Care; or St. John the Apostle Church. <br /></div>
