Maureen Doyle
July 26, 1934 - September 3, 2015
Maureen Ann Elizabeth Doyle (nee Fowler)
After a long life passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on September 3, 2015. Devoted wife for 62 years to Raymond Joseph Doyle. Loving and dedicated mother to Maureen (Kevin Coffey), Michael (Angela), Paul (Julia Finerty) and the late Bryan. Proud Grandmother to Sarah (Ryan La Rose), Meaghan, Katherine, Michael (Nicole), Matthew, Andrew, Sam and Bryden as well as three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Madison La Rose and Aurora Doyle. Daughter of the late Michael Fowler and Sarah Myrtle Eves. Dear sister of the late Helen Ready (Ken), Hart Fowler (Pat), Sheila Fanjoy (George). Daughter-in-law of the late John Edward Doyle and Bridget Webb. Sister-in-law of the late Mary Hudson (Pete), Harold Doyle (Jean), the late Reverend John Doyle SJ and Sister Anna Doyle RHSJ. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Faith, home and family were the centre of Maureen’s life. She excelled in the domestic arts including, cooking, baking, gardening, knitting and crochet. Maureen lived a life full of kindness and charity, opening her home to many and volunteering with Parish council, CWL, auxiliary of Hotel Dieu, and many school organizations including the Parents and Friends Association of Regiopolos Notre Dame. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner at St. Joseph’s. She met every adversity in life with faith in God, her rosary and prayer. If you ever met Maureen it is likely that you are a recipient of her prayers. Maureen was a beautiful woman whose style, grace and contagious smile lit up every room. She loved dancing, country music, an interesting story and a good joke, fishing and entertaining at home and at the family cottage at Thirteen Island Lake, but most of all, she loved her family. She was completely fulfilled as a devoted wife and mother.
We are broken-hearted that she is no longer with us but will endeavour to follow her example of faith, trusting in God that she now resides in the Lord, re-united with her dear son Bryan and all her loved ones who have gone before her.
The family wishes to thank Dr. John Stalker and Dr. Antony Sanfilippo for their dedication and friendship. Many thanks also to the staff at the Cardiac Sciences unit at the KGH.
Friends will be received at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 49 Colborne Street, (at Clergy St.) on Sunday, September 6 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, September 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, Palace Road, on Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. Rite of Committal with prayers in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be welcomed.
