Brousseau, Pavla

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Pavla Brousseau on Friday, May 6, 2016. She passed away peacefully, strengthened by her faith and surrounded by love. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Maurice Brousseau, her sister Marcela Vaskor, her sister-in-law Lidka Brecka and her parents, Jan and Karla Brecka. Pavla was born on April 2, 1953 in Vnorovy, Czechoslovakia. She left communist Czechoslovakia and came to Canada in 1978 with two younger siblings to begin a new life. In 1989, Pavla married Maurice Brousseau and together they opened their home and hearts to family and friends. Many gourmet meals lovingly prepared by Pavla were shared at “the cottage”. Pavla had a profound faith and her greatest joy was participating in Holy Mass and spending time in devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament.

She will forever be remembered by her brothers Karel (Alena) Brecka, Jan (Jana) Brecka in the Czech Republic and Josef (Roxanne) Brecka of Thunder Bay, and her sister Marie (John) Vajdik and her brother in law, Joseph Vaskor. Pavla was a very special “Teta” to several nieces and nephews with whom she loved spending time; hosting them during March break holidays and summers at the cottage. Memories of their time together will be cherished forever.

Family will receive friends at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 49 Colborne St. Kingston on Friday May 13, 2016 from 3-6 pm with prayers commencing at 5:30 pm. The Mass of Resurrection will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 14 2016 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rite of Committal to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 718 Division St.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Pavla to St. Mary’s Cathedral or any charity that serves the hungry or helps the less fortunate.
