<div itemprop="description">Vos, Walter John, M.S.W. <br /> <br />Passed away on Monday, January 6, in his eighty-first year into the arms of his Lord and Saviour. Held in loving memory by his wife, Lorraine Vos; children Raymond (Lori), Ed (Melanie), Julie (Glenn), Jeanie (Dennis), and Curtis (Shannon); grandchildren Emily, Nicole, Austin, Jennifer, Nathan, and Tony; sister Sigrid (Stuart) Vandermeer, and brother Ernest (Rosalie)Vos. <br /> <br />After emigrating from the Netherlands at age twenty, Walter received a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from Calvin College, Michigan, and a Master&rsquo;s of Social Work from the University of Toronto. He was the Director of the Social Services Department at Hotel Dieu Hospital for twenty-five years and was well respected for his contributions there. Walter was also a pillar in the Christian Reformed Church in Kingston and in later years at the Kingsway Outreach Centre. His family, friends, and colleagues are grateful for his wise direction, steadfast support, and loving generosity, and they will miss him greatly. <br /> <br />Much appreciation to the staff at KGH for their tremendous care over the last seven years, and in particular to Dr. Ken Reid. <br /> <br />Visitation will be at the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 49 Colborne Street ( at Clergy St.), on Friday, January 10th from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be on Saturday, at 12 (Noon), held at Kingsway Outreach Centre, 1440 Princess St. <br /> <br />As expressions of support, donations can be made to &ldquo;The Kenya Initiative: From Street To School&rdquo; care of &ldquo;Flow Of Hope&rdquo; . <br /></div>
